En 2007, Magnum fête son 60ème anniversaire. C’est la première agence coopérative créée en 1947 par les photographes eux-mêmes, ou plutôt, comme l’affirme Henri Cartier-Bresson, par des "aventuriers qui avaient une éthique". Soixante ans plus tard, Magnum doit sa notoriété à la qualité de ses membres qui ont su ne jamais déroger au principe fixé par les fondateurs : solidarité dans le respect des individualités. Mais ce qui fédère ces photographes, c’est la conception même du journalisme, et le regard chaleureusement humaniste qu’ils et elles portent sur la complexité du monde et sa diversité.
